Description: Cantey Collection original albumen CDV of a drawing of Jesse W. James in the 1880s prior to his death. It was originally published in the POLICE Gazette Magaizine in NY. This CDV was was published by Chas. Eisenmann, Photographer, in NY. The interesting thing is that sources tell us Jesse saw this in Police Gazette and was worried as it actually looked very much like him at the time! Jesse, we now know, loved the camera and had many images made of himself and with friends. However, they were closely held by family and close friends and did not fall into law enforcement hands in his life time.
