Description: Cantey collection original CDV of Champ Ferguson. There are many "reproductions" on places like eBay, etc. of this image but this is a signed 100% ORIGINAL. Champ operated as a Confederate guerrilla or Partisan Ranger Captain in the mountains of East Tennessee during the Civil War. He had a hatred for the Union soldiers and supporters. He cooperated with CSA generals Morgan and Wheeler. After the war, he was captured and tried in Nashville, Tennesse for 53 "murders". He was hanged on October 20, 1865. This and other images were taken and sold to raise money for his defense but the trial was totally one sided. When he was sentenced he said, "I am yet and will die a Rebel..."
