James Farm and BOMB
Last Random Picture | Next Random Picture
Description: Cantey Collection cabinet photograph showing Mama James Samuels (sitting) with the James cousin, Will James, in the front yard of the James farm. Will holds a fragment of the bomb thrown into the James house by the Pinkertons in 1876. The bomb blew off Mama's arm and killed her youngest son Archie Peyton Samuels. The fragment is now in the farm museum. The Pinkertons boldly lied for many years that the bomb was not a real bomb but a smoke bomb that accidently exploded. That contention was later proven to be a lie when the actual drawing of the bomb were uncovered.
