Davis Tutt , called "Dave"
Last Random Picture | Next Random Picture
Description: Davis Tutt was a local cowboy in Springfield, Missouri. At one point, Tutt and Wild Bill Hickok were good friends until they fought over women. Some say it was over Dave's sister Lottie Tutt whom Hickok dallied with and some say it was Tutt dallying with Hickok's girlfriend Susanna Moore.
Tutt and Hickok finally came to odds at a card game where Tutt grabbed Hickok's prized watch over an amount that he said Hickok owed him.  Tutt said openly that he intended to wear Hickok's watch the next morning and Hickok told Tutt if he did he would kill him. On June 21, 1865, Tutt appeared in town wearing the watch and Hickok was quickly informed. At 6:00 PM that day Hickok met Tutt in the square and killed him in an honest gun duel with one shot at approx. 75 yards. Hickok was tried but acquited of manslaughter on August 6, 1865.
